[BD] Bio-Dune Lab
Prototype
[MS] Material System
In the ‘Bio-Dune Lab’, grains of sand in molecular scale and their
accumulation in the shape of a dune, are the proper elements for
harvesting specific species of bacteria that are able to solidify sand
and turn it into sandstone, as well as bacteria that can boost the growth
of plants in the oasis.
[TF] Techtonic Flow
In order to collect and capture the sand grains, a base structure is created made out of plam trees. The base structure is built in layers every one meter.
[AC] Actualization
After the sand has accumulate, a first injection of bacteria is been employed as a design tool for the creation of living spaces that exploits the natural process of sand sedimentation. Harvesting bacteria areas, farming plots for plant groth bacteria tests as wells as microobial research labs and housing areas for scientists and local farmers are introduced on top and inside the prototype.
