Linear Exchange System

With the special location between Lake Ichkeul and Bizerte Lagoon, Menzel Bourguiba gets more benefits from the two different water body.  At the nortern of the city, the exchange between salty water and fresh water happens at Tinja Canal all the year around. Based on the princeple of  communicating vessels, water exchange has opposite direction among summer and winter. Local people take advantage of that to get different kind of fishes.

To divide salty water and fresh water, the new artificial wetland has a  shape like waves.Based on the landscape created by the water stigmergy, the salty water makes a new erosion landscape which is the lower parts of wetland. The upper parts suits the accumulation landscape made by fresh water whose height could defend the effect caused by flood. 

 

[]AC] Actualization

Since the salinity becomes the key element to influence the survival of wetland, the artificial wetland should control the amount of salty water pour into the fresh water. The monitoring system is added to wetland. To work with ion exchange membrane, the cells on the wetland could control the water salinity to a  normal range which would be favorable for vegetation and animals.
