Garaet Ichkeul is the last of a chain of lakes which used to extend across the north African littoral and one of the

four most important\remaining wetlands in the western Mediterranean. The national park was created to safegua- rd this wetland with its diversity of ter-restrial and aquatic ecosystems.

 

 





[TECH] Technological 

The wetland could help to purify the water and surrounding atmosphere.Because of the vegetation and bio-diversity,wetland could generae rich oxygen,which will create a proper micro-climate.  

 





[SOC] Socio-political

The local people use the wetland for farming,grazing or fishing,which has caused the decreasing of original wetland surface.Also because of lack of freshwater,the wetlands are in risk in Lake Ichkeul area.
